Was there contact on the play? maybe a slight touch on the part of the Chilean player, but did Torres dive? I have absolutely no doubt. The contact did not merit basically acting as if he had just been shot and continued to play it up as a foul. He clearly dove and should be ashamed. Hes not C Ronaldo but he does a hell on an impression
“All the referees are acting in a consistent and uniform manner,” José María García-Aranda, head of FIFA’s refereeing department, said Monday. “The matches are different, the behavior of the players are different, but the referees are consistent.”—
This means we must root for England today. I know it might be painful for you to do that, but we need them to win. So be a good American and eat some bangers and mash for lunch and listen to The Who and say “crisps” instead of potato chips until the game is over.
“I’ve just seen that disallowed goal for the US again - and not only was there no foul by a US player, there are probably two penalty-kick offences being committed by the Slovenian defenders. Shocking decision.”—
While I am happy with the draw (after putting ourselves in such a hole), it should have been a win. The referee was a disgrace to this level of football. There was nothing wrong in that goal, in fact if anything there were penalties being committed on the United States. So it goes I suppose.
I think its ridiculous how nervous I get over soccer games played half way across the world, which I have no real power and control of. Yet I do get nervous, very nervous. USA v. Slovenia today. 9:30am.
A fast paced attack minded game, where both teams are looking for a win and not just trying not to lose, all happening at the FIFA World Cup? I forgot that was even possible after the previous 14 games.
