unfortunately i don’t think it’s about intelligence. just the way women are seen by these supposed “nice guys.” they’re like complicated doors to sex that must be unlocked. and if you are persistent enough, you will open them.
Basically this. I think what bothers me is a lot of times when I see these dudes talking about women there isn’t any sort of connection or anything but just are being nice for the sake of being nice in order to get laid. I dont know Stacia, you know I have a complex relationship with dudes and how I feel about dudes and how I feel about having to identify with dudes. They do shit like this and I just go ugh my gender is annoying and just ugh. So i guess this is more of that UGH
holy shit that niceguyrules tumblr is SO CREEPY. "stay even if she doesn't want you to stay, because you know she needs you there." NO. HELL NO. UGH WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE
See there is a time and place where I think lots of dudes are “nice guys” and I feel its unfortunate but if you are a guy of a certain type at a certain age it happens. When someone is a “nice guy” at age 15 I think while still wrong and annoying its one of those matters of just being young and uninformed and unable to have that sort of confidence that comes with age. I hate to admit I had a few of those traits some time in my high school years but the shit people are submitting is beyond not okay. I mean how do you think not even letting her make up her own damn mind is ever okay. Do you know the person who runs that blog is in college? How do you keep those views so long? how do you not realize that all this is the opposite of what to do? Like I don’t know it baffles me when dudes don’t grow out of that stage because while at a young age I understand it a little once you are in fucking college you need to be smarter than that no?
After five years, Beckham’s career in Los Angeles was a letdown for L.A. fans, MLS fans and the league as a whole.
BECKHAMMMM didn’t revolutionize mls, and espn’s handling of his arrival was so annoying, but this article ignores the $$$$$$$$$ he brought to the league, how he opened the way for other designated players, and how, actually, mls games started to be shown more accessibly at home and abroad
an ongoing beef with teammate Landon Donovan this is over and has been a moot point for a few years
three catastrophic injuries seeing that he played through the playoffs, i’ma take a guess and say that those injuries weren’t really a ~catastrophe~
The league did receive newly revised television deals and an increased following so how is this a ‘failure?’ the league had to contract to ten teams in 2001, now there’s 19 next season. beckham isn’t fully responsible for the boom, but he sure didn’t hurt. the league used to have to pay espn to show games, now they make money off tv deals. in this past season, the average league-wide attendance per game was 17,872. in 2006, before beckham, it was 15,504. the galaxy saw something like a 4,000 person increase in attendance before and after signing him.
but it’s locked in as the nation’s sixth most popular professional league after the NFL, MLB, NBA, NASCAR and NHL. nascar isn’t a sports league. how is mls “locked” in this position, anyway? this ignores how latinos are now the largest minority group in the usa and growing pretty quickly. this ignores the attendance statistics, which put it third out of the five major leagues for last season’s per-game attendance, and i’m pretty sure the nba’s numbers are going to drop after the lockout.
I want to jump in here because well I like expressing my opinion as if it’s important. I think one of the biggest issues is the perception that MLS brought David Beckham to be the thing that made soccer big in america. In fact this article claims that its what Alexi Lalas envisioned. Let’s not get into my Alexi Lalas feelings too much but he was a joke of a GM and the shit he spewed should not be taking as anything more than that but it’s part of that whole media blitz that claimed he had to be that. He never truly was that though and everyone who followed the league always understood that. Nothing will make soccer the biggest sport overnight, its a slow process and one that continues to make inroads and Beckham’s goal was to bring extra exposure to the league and serve as a jumping point to the next level of growth. It was never to be Pele and make soccer bigger than the NFL. Uou can’t deny that he gave the need what it needed from him. Granted it could have been better if he had committed himself for real to playing here instead of seeming more interested in other pursuits but you can’t say he wasn’t a good investment. Did the experiment succeed? probably not as much as it could have but it wasn’t in any way a failure.
Do you know the real reason the 1990s were better than the 2000s and the 2010’s? Soulful sexy black men in R&B videos making us dream of steamy shower scenes. That’s what America really needs, that’s real hope. And until then here is a Toni Braxton MIDI
Oh hey new followers! I run the best tumblr ever and you should follow it for gems like this. I promise that i’ll be paying more attention to it now. Especially as I can’t like move.
I wish I had sprained it in some heroic way. Not walking on a side walk after having watched The Muppets. How lame of a way to sprain your ankle. I should be fine though. Doctor just says that basically for the next 2 or 3 days i need to just stay off it ugh.
Yes that’s right, punk is dead; It’s just another cheap product for the consumers head. Bubblegum rock on plastic transistors, Schoolboy sedition backed by big time promoters. CBS promote the Clash, But it ain’t for revolution, it’s just for cash. Punk became a fashion just like hippy used to be And it ain’t got a thing to do with you or me.
Someone once asked me if I used bigsoccer. I have never been so hurt by a question by a total stranger. Like what did I do to give off that appearance that I might be big on using bigsoccer? It bothers me even now.
“Many Japanese think their language is so unique that foreigners cannot grip its essence, its beauty or its subtlety. And if some foreigner claims that he has grasped that essence, nobody believes him. One reason they think that way is because Japan is a very homogenous country that has not been occupied by other countries except for a brief period after World War II. Its culture was not threatened by other cultures. So the Japanese language has been isolated. It has been isolated for maybe 2,000 years. That’s why Japanese are so certain about its uniqueness, its nature, its structure, its function. I think what some young Japanese writers are doing is trying to break, to destroy, that stubbornness, to rebel against that certainty.”—Haruki Murakami (via murakamistuff)
The spatial relationship that we create for ourselves at that moment is also important, but the time that we share together is far more appealing and precious to me. So to be pedantic, it’s like I frame “time” rather than “space.” That’s what differentiates my photos from the rest of them. And that’s where happiness lies, you know? In the “time” that we spend together.
“Roque and I never coincided in time or space; nevertheless, we corresponded frequently over the years, and we had a number of friends in common. It was Roque who initiated the interchange during his epoch in Prague from 1965 to 1967. I was living in Paris at that time, and we both shared the same nostalgia for our distant — and in Roque’s case, forbidden — homeland. The strange thing about his letters was that they only touched peripherally on politics and poetry. Instead, they were filled with comical accounts of daily life in Prague, and above all they dealt with Salvadoran cooking. For months we exchanged recipes for dishes that were almost impossible to prepare in Europe, and especially in Prague, for lack of the right ingredients. How could one duplicate the mysterious alchemy of gallo en chicha, for example, or recreate the subtle aroma of pupusas de loroco?”—Claribel Alegría (via photographism)
WHAT HOW COULD THEY DRINK THE BIRTHDAY BOY’S WINE?????? HOW RUDE
I FUCKING KNOW! I was even more upset about that damn turkey. My ass sat outside for about an hour and a half in the cold in order to get the oil up to the right tempature then risk life and limb to fry it! and I didn’t even get to try it. Everyone was like “MMM ITS SO GOOD” and i wanted to yell “I WOULDNT KNOW ASSHOLES CAUSE I DIDN’T EVEN GET ANY!”
